Palermo

Palermo is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, and the largest of the city. Palermo offers options for all tastes: from quiet residential areas surrounded by trees and elegant constructions to commercial places with stores, pubs, restaurants and active night life. Anything can take place in the beautiful and vast Palermo.

In Palermo, we can identify different areas. Palermo Viejo is characterized by its houses from the beginning of the last century which maintain its facades. Such houses are now being modernized or recovered in the framework of the strong transformation that Palermo is experiencing.

The installation of TV channels and production companies led to the opening of pubs and stores which started this trend. Thus, the area of Palermo Viejo to the north of Av. Juan B. Justo is called nowadays Palermo Hollywood. In Palermo Hollywood you can still find old houses without being remodeled, others already recycled, others more modern, new real state developments, everything coexisting with old studios, new pubs, restaurants and production companies that settled in the area.

From Juan B. Justo Avenue to the center of Buenos Aires, you can find the major movement in which you can witness the most evident change of Palermo Viejo. Nowadays, this area of Palermo is characterized by a strong commercial and real state development. It is the area of Palermo Viejo with more night life, with a great number of pubs, restaurants and discos and with a considerable concentration of design and decoration stores. This area of Palermo is known as Palermo Soho.

The epicenter of Palermo Soho is the Honduras and Borges corner, where you can find the Julio Cortázar Square, also known as “Placita Serrano”, as an allusion to the former name of Borges street at that same block. Surrounding this square, there are numerous ethnic restaurants, pubs and discos and interesting stores of design, decoration and clothes that amalgamates stores of first class brands with vanguard's shops.

If you are looking for a place with an active night life, Las Cañitas is an excellent option. Placed on the boundaries of Belgrano neighborhood, Las Cañitas has numerous exclusive pubs and restaurants where every weekend porteños and tourists gather to enjoy a fun night. The streets of Las Cañitas, surrounded by trees, makes it good to take a walk to admire its luxurious architecture. The Argentine Polo Field is also found in Las Cañitas.

Another important area of Palermo is the one known as Alto Palermo. Alto Palermo is a Shopping Mall which opened its doors a decade ago in the lot previously known as Cervecería Palermo, located in the intersection of Santa Fe and Coronel Diaz avenues. This area of the city offers its guests numerous stores, restaurants, pubs, cinemas and the proximity to means of transport and the line D of subway. It is a central area, ideal for those who search an easy way of transportation to any point of Buenos Aires. Alto Palermo is one of the most wanted places due to its characteristics.

However, Palermo is more than shops and movement. For those who prefer green spaces, there is a luxurious and beautiful area: the Jardín Botánico (Botanic Garden), the Jardín Zoológico (Zoo), the Jardín Japonés (Japanese Garden) and Plaza Alemania (Germany Square). This area of Palermo is an oasis in Buenos Aires, where people can enjoy a natural and elegant environment surrounded by beautiful buildings and hundred-year-old trees.

Then we encounter the area known as Palermo Nuevo, a little area comprised between the Sarmiento, Bullrich, Santa Fe and Del Libertador avenues. In such area there are more modern buildings than in the rest of Palermo, and the always present pubs and restaurants, some of them highly advisable.

We cannot finish this short tour around the areas of Palermo without mentioning the area known as Palermo Chico, one of the most elegant areas of Buenos Aires, gifted with a singular beauty, with its curvy and irregular streets and its elegant mansions, many of which nowadays are embassies. Palermo Chico is also known as Barrio Parque.

Palermo is, undoubtedly, one of the best neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. Come and visit it and enjoy its beauty. We take care of your accommodation.
